The Australian Year of the Dog Gold Coin

Characterised by outstanding craftsmanship, iconic artistry and assured purity, The Perth Mint has revealed Australia’s official bullion coin program for 2018.

Issued annually since 1987, the trusted releases offer an outstanding choice of pure gold, silver and platinum coins, each authorised by the Australian Government as official legal tender.

Extremely popular with investors, Australian Lunar coins celebrate the 12 animals of the Chinese lunar calendar. In 2018, the coin artistry portrays a Labrador Retriever on the 99.99% pure gold releases, and German Shepherds on the 99.99% pure silver coins, marking the Year of the Dog.

The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar dog include 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 and 2018. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be loyal, amiable, kind and friendly.

Extremely Limited Issues

The Australian Lunar 2018 Year of the Dog Gold Bullion Coin Series is available in multiple sizes and mintages. Production of the coins with unlimited mintages will close at the end of 2018 when The Perth Mint will declare each coin's official mintage. A maximum mintage of 30,000 1oz gold coins applies. Production will cease when the mintage is fully sold or at the end of the series, whichever comes first.

The Perth Mint

Perth Mint was established in 1899 originally as a branch of the Royal Mint in the UK. It is now Australia’s official bullion mint and is 100% owned by the Government of Western Australia. As its name suggests, Perth Mint is located in Perth, Western Australia.

Perth Mint has manufactured stunning gold coins which focus on American wildlife including the popular Australian Kangaroo gold coins and Australian Lunar gold coins which are classed as legal tender, and a range of gold bars which are typically minted in .9999 fine gold (24 karats).

People who wish to buy gold manufactured by the Perth Mint are easily able to do so through Direct Bullion.
